Sarrusophone o sarrusofón. Instrumento de tubo cónico perteneciente a la familia de viento-madera, pero de cuerpo metálico, como el saxofón. Originalmente provisto de lengüeta doble. Patentado y fabricado por Gautrot a partir de un concepto de Pierre August Sarrus.
Sarrusophone. A woodwind family instrument with conical bore but metal made. At first, it was provided with a double reed. Patented and made by Gautrot from an idea from Pierre August Sarrus.

Karl Emil von Schafhäutl (1803-1890). Físico, geólogo y naturalista. Amigo de Theobald Bhöm, escribió en 1833 un ensayo sobre los tubos sonoros de los instrumentos.
Physicist, geologist and naturalist. A friend of Theobald Bhöm, he wrote in 1833 an essay about the sound tubes of instruments.
